Superior Announces Results From Recent Auctions
Beverly Hills, California -September 10, 2004 - Superior Galleries, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: SPGR) today announced results of auctions held in recent weeks.
Pre-Long Beach Elite Auction
Prices realized for the Pre-Long Beach Elite Auction, held September 5 to 7,
2004, exceeded $4.1 million.
Highlights from this event included the following:
High honors for the sale go to an 1879 Flowing Hair $4 "Stella," which reached
$120,750. This coin is graded Proof 64 by Professional Coin Grading Service.
The strong price achieved confirmed the strength of the market for this very
popular design. Numerous examples in numerous grades have reached the market
in the past year, and the coin continues to find newer and stronger demand
each time one is offered.
The third finest known example of a variety of 1798 Large Cent, cataloged as
Sheldon 155 and graded About Uncirculated 55, realized $25,300. Copper coins
brought in advance of published retail values in many instances.
Another area of strong demand was 20th Century Proof Gold. A 1913 Indian Head
$5 Half Eagle, graded Proof 65, soared to $32,200.
One of the cornerstones of the rare coin market, the Saint-Gaudens $20 Double
Eagle, was well supported at the Superior Galleries sale. A PCGS MS-62 example
of the 1921 minting, a recognized rarity in the series, garnered $90,275.
World coins were also very well represented and supported at the sale. A very
rare 1888 2.5 Pesos struck at the Alamos mint, the only such date struck there,
brought $19,550. The coin is graded MS-62 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America.

August 16, 2004, in Pittsburgh, PA, exceeded $4.5 million. Additionally,
