Superior Announces Elite Auction Results
Beverly Hills, California – June 2, 2004 - Superior Galleries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin
Board: SPGR) announced today that prices realized from its Elite rare coin auction,
held on May 30th through June 1st, exceeded $6 million.
Among the highlights from the auction was a Kittanning Destroyed Medal struck in
1756 and widely considered, "...the first large medal made from American dies and
struck in what is now the United States of America.", realized $48,300 in very spirited bidding.
Rare United States Gold coins continued to show strength as an 1879 $4 "Stella" graded Proof
64 soared to $135,125. This was fully 30 percent above published valuations.
The featured Russian Classics Collection Part II amazed onlookers as numerous coins
brought multiples of pre-sale estimates. For example, an 1801 Pattern Ruble graded Proof
64, struck in Silver with lettered edge, realized a price of $105,600 against a high end
pre-sale estimate of $40,000.
