Superior Announces Santa Clara Elite Rare Coin Auction Results
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 2003--Superior Galleries,
Inc. (Pink Sheets: SPGR - News) announced today that prices realized
from its Santa Clara Elite rare coin auction, held on November 21 and
22, 2003, exceeded $2.38 million.
Among the more hotly contested rarities, a superbly toned 1796 Draped
Bust Quarter Dollar graded Un-circulated 55 garnered $41,400, while a
1921-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar graded Mint State 64 realized $40,250.
Collector coins performed well at this sale as an "Ordinary Wheatie" Lincoln
Cent dated 1954-D realized $1,495. This particular specimen was graded MS-67 Red.
Key date Barber coinage continued its upward strength as a 1901-S Quarter
Dollar graded Very Fine 30 realized $13,800. The popular Carson City
coinage also showed continuing strength as an 1870-CC Seated Liberty
Quarter Dollar brought $33,350 in spirited bidding.
